Nathalie Dubleumortier
Primarily
moved by music and novel writing, I dare to venture into painting
in 2004. My taste for the abstract weighs in as kind of logical
acquiesence to my linguistic musings, about the power and powerlessness
of language and memory. As much as language mishaps speak to us
and allow themselves to interpretations, abstract also offers us
to see what's undescribable and does so for each individual viewer.
Very often, the title alone reveals a clue in comprehending the
canvas or image.
Little by little, I include into my paintings such disparate materials
as wood, fabric, nails and above all sand from sundry origins.I
work with acrylic paint, which prevents doing touch-ups; I create
the image almost instantly on canvas or it becomes worthless.
Several themes run throughout my creations: writing, temporality,
bullfighting and contrast. Finally, certain canvases reveal human
shapes, created with the dripping technique.
