SPECIAL: SALVADOR DALI
In
1964, speaking about his art, Dali said :“My work is unique in the whole world”
Many
of Dali’s works of art were reproduced by tens of thousands*, while others
remain unknown to the art community and
even
less by the public at large.
LA GALERIE INTERNATIONALE has made such a discovery.
In
New York, during the 60’s, Georgette Owens*, well known artist/painter was
exhibiting her work at the Museum of
Modern Art, and at the
Galleries of Madison Avenue, when she met
Salvator Dali who became her career mentor. Dali engaged Ms
Owens to model forhis drawing entitled La Meduse
aka Medusa. As a gesture of thanks to Ms Owens, Dali presented her with his
drawing St Georges aswell as two personally dedicated books.
Later,
in 1997, both Renot and Georgette Owens were simultaneously exhibiting their
work at
LA GALERIE INTERNATIONALE inPalo
Alto. During the course of conversation, learning that Dali’s work was of
particular interest for Renot, Ms Owens shared with himthe aforementioned
books that she had in her possession. In one of those books, The World Of
Salvador Dali (by his secretary, Robert Descharnes), a crucial
discovery was made – inside the book on a cover page, there exists a Dali
hand-inscribed insigna...a personal touch...
A
VERY PERSONAL TOUCH...If the message is not clear, the fact remains that it
is a DALI.

of Georgette Owens is reproducing this piece.
